Rather predictable result when third ranked Walter Tigers (5-2) won against 7th ranked Lions (3-3) in Karlsruhe 85-75 on Saturday. Walter Tigers made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Croatian Mateo Seric (204-99) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Finnish point guard Aatu Kivimaki (185-97, agency: Blacktop Management) accounted for 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Walter Tigers' coach Daniel Jansson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Ferdinand Zylka (191-98) came up with 17 points and 4 assists and American guard Stanley Whittaker (183-94, college: Keiser) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for Lions in the defeat. Four Lions players scored in double figures. Walter Tigers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bayer Giants. Loser Lions dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Bochum and Nuernberg. Walter Tigers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lions will play against Falcons (#11) in Nuernberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
