Regular Season Round 7: Braunschweig - Wolfenbuettel 93-69

There was an upset when higher ranked Wolfenbuettel (2-4) was outplayed on the road by fourteenth ranked SG Braunschweig (1-6) 93-69 on Saturday. SG Braunschweig forced 19 Wolfenbuettel turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for point guard Simon Roosch (198-1) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Joshua Burgunder (194-1) helped adding 20 points. Four SG Braunschweig players scored in double figures. SG Braunschweig's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (187-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) responded with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Elias Gueldenhaupt (191-95) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Newly promoted SG Braunschweig maintains fourteenth place in North with 1-6 record. Loser Wolfenbuettel keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Neustadt TSV. SG Braunschweig will meet higher ranked Bergedorf (#13) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wolfenbuettel will play against Stade and hope to secure a win.
