Regular Season Round 7: Rheinland - Freiburg 96-90

The game between Top Four teams took place in Bergisch Gladbach. Leader host Rheinland (7-0) defeated their biggest opponent Freiburg (5-2) 96-90. Rheinland made 22-of-23 charity shots (95.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Taylor Wurtz (183-90, college: Wisconsin) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 4 assists (made all of her thirteen free throws !!!). French point guard Joyce Cousseins-Smith (168-88, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) accounted for 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Rheinland's coach Mario Zurkowski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Japanese point guard Shiori Yasuma (162-94) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Hannah Little (186-94, college: Oakland) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Freiburg in the defeat. Four Rheinland and five Freiburg players scored in double figures. Rheinland have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Rheinland maintains first place with 7-0 record. Freiburg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Herner. Rheinland will play against Marburg (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Freiburg will play against TSV 1880 (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
