Regular Season Round 8: Paderborn - Schwenningen 86-92

There was no surprise in Paderborn where 8th ranked Uni Baskets (4-4) were defeated by sixth ranked Schwenningen (5-2) 92-86 on Friday. Schwenningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard David Cohn (188-95, college: William & Mary) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 assists. Naturalized American Chris Frazier (182-90, college: Dubuque) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Jordan Barnes (179-97, college: Indiana St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists and Jens-Oliver Grossmann (204-0) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Schwenningen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tuebingen and Rostock. Uni Baskets lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Trier and Kirchheim. Schwenningen will meet at home Artland Dragons (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Uni Baskets will play against Lions (#12) in Karlsruhe and hope to secure a win.
