Regular Season Round 8: Itzehoe - Rostock 65-89
Date: November 5, 2021
Not a big story in a game in Itzehoe where 13th ranked Eagles (2-4) were rolled over by fourth ranked Seawolves (5-2) 89-65 on Friday. Seawolves made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 Eagles turnovers. Strangely Eagles outrebounded Seawolves 35-14 including a 27-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international Sid-Marlon Theis (204-93) who scored 18 points. American guard Tyler Nelson (190-95, college: Fairfield) chipped in 17 points. Center Yasin Kolo (208-92, college: Bellarmine) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and American Christopher Hooper (198-91, college: SFC) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Seawolves have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tuebingen and Schwenningen. Eagles lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with four games lost. Seawolves will meet at home Phoenix Hagen (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Eagles will play against Kirchheim Knights and hope to secure a win.
