There was an upset when higher ranked Leverkusen 2 (5-3) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Hagen BG (2-6) 79-70 on Friday. Strangely Leverkusen 2 outrebounded Hagen BG 39-19 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists and American forward Salathiel Ligons (201-84) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Nicolas Funk (185-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Justin Gnad (191-97) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Hagen BG maintains twelfth position in West with 2-6 record, which they share with Dorsten. Loser Leverkusen 2 dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Loewen. Hagen BG will meet at home league's leader Herford in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Leverkusen 2 will play against the league's second-placed Deutzer and will have a slim chance for a victory.
