Regular Season Round 8: Rendsburg - Westerstede 100-91

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Rendsburg (3-5) beat at home second-ranked Westerstede (6-2) 100-91 on Saturday. Rendsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Westerstede's 36 and made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Westerstede 47-30 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Devaughn Mallory (201-97, college: Jefferson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds and forward Henning Rixen (196-99) who added 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Jerry Ndhine (193-2) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-98) scored 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Westerstede players scored in double figures. Rendsburg moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Bramsche. Loser Westerstede still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Berlin BG 2000. Rendsburg will meet Bramsche (#9) on the road in the next round. Westerstede will play against WSG Koenigs (#11) and hope to secure a win.
