Regular Season Round 8: Koeln - Schwelm 74-68

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Koeln where 8th ranked Schwelm (2-6) was defeated by ninth ranked Rhein Stars (2-6) 74-68 on Saturday. Rhein Stars outrebounded Schwelm 43-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Vincent Golson Jr (173-94, college: CSUDH) who had a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Center Yannick Kneesch (204-96) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Rhein Stars' coach Simon Cote used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marco Hollersbacher (202-0) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Rupert Hennen (184-97) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Rhein Stars maintains ninth position in North with 2-6 record, which they share with Schwelm and Bernau. Schwelm lost third consecutive game. Rhein Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Schwelm will play against the league's leader Muenster (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
