Regular Season Round 7: Merkezefendi - Pinar Karsiyaka 73-81
Date: November 6, 2021
No shocking result in a game in Denizl where second ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (6-1) defeated 14th ranked Merkezefendi (2-5) 81-73 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Pinar Karsiyaka especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a great evening for American guard James Blackmon Jr (193-95, college: Indiana) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Senegalese-French Amath MBaye (205-89, college: Oklahoma) helped adding 12 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and Latvian Rihards Lomazs (190-96) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinar Karsiyaka have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Newly promoted Merkezefendi dropped to the thirteenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Turk Telekom and Yalova. Pinar Karsiyaka will meet at home Besiktas (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Merkezefendi will play against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
