Regular Season Round 5: KOS - Flames 93-77

There was no surprise in Celovec where bottom-ranked Flames (0-5) were defeated by fourth ranked KOS (3-2) 93-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by KOS. Flames managed to win second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KOS forced 24 Flames turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Slovenian forward Erik Groznik (201-0) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Bosnian Marko Gutalj (-0) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five KOS players scored in double figures. American guard Fabio Sohnel (193, college: Mineral Area) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and forward Lorenz Gerstendorfer (192-98) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KOS moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Flames still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. KOS will meet at home league's second-placed BBU in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Flames will play against Lions (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
