There was a small surprise in Sakiai where seventh ranked LSU-Atletas (5-5) beat 5th ranked Vytis (5-5) 79-75 on Saturday. LSU-Atletas made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. LSU-Atletas outrebounded Vytis 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. The former international Martynas Linkevicius (197-85, agency: BIG) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Aidas Kavaliauskas (185-95, college: Fairfield) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. LSU-Atletas' coach Remigijus Bardauskas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Augustinas Mikstas (203-1) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and Gabrielius Celka (198-1) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four Vytis players scored in double figures. LSU-Atletas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Vytis. Vytis lost fifth consecutive game. LSU-Atletas will meet higher ranked Vilkaviskis (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vytis will play against Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
