Regular Season Round 5: VKM - SKM II 78-58

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked VKM as it allowed them to take a leadership position. VKM smashed 8th ranked SKM II in Vilniaus 78-58. The game was mostly controlled by VKM. SKM II managed to win fourth quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SKM II to just 7 points in third quarter. VKM dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to SKM II's 28. VKM forced 22 SKM II turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Point guard Gedas Jucius (173-4) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Forward Danielius Kasparas (198-4) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Mantas Janciauskas (193-4) answered with 6 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Nojus Krulikauskas (174-4) added 14 points in the effort for SKM II. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. VKM (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. SKM II at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Panevezio. SKM II will play next round against strong Zalgiris II trying to get back on the winning streak. VKM will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked SKM I. It will be extra interesting game as SKM I is their local rival from Vilniaus.
