Regular Season Round 9: Schwenningen - Art.Dragons 55-99

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Artland Dragons (3-5) outscored on the road 4th placed Schwenningen (5-3) 99-55 on Wednesday. Artland Dragons shot 60.3 percent from the field. Artland Dragons outrebounded Schwenningen 30-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Schwenningen's players. American Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Adrian Breitlauch (193-93) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Raiquan Clark (198, college: LIU Brooklyn) with 18 points and the other American import guard David Cohn (188-95, college: William & Mary) scored 6 points and 5 assists. Schwenningen's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Artland Dragons moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Karlsruhe PS. Loser Schwenningen keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Bremerhaven and Bayer Giants. Artland Dragons will meet at home higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Schwenningen will play against Gladiators (#7) in Trier and hope to secure a win.
