Regular Season Round 7: Oldenburg - Bamberg 87-71

Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Brose Bamberg (5-3). They were defeated by eighteenth ranked EWE Baskets (2-6) 87-71 on Friday night. EWE Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Brose Bamberg's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Tai Odiase (206-95, college: UIC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Phil Pressey (180-91, college: Missouri) helped adding 14 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side international power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-95, college: Boise St.) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and international Kenneth Ogbe (196-94, college: Utah Valley) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five EWE Baskets and four Brose Bamberg players scored in double figures. EWE Baskets moved-up to seventeenth place. Brose Bamberg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Bayern. Brose Bamberg will play next round against strong Telekom Baskets trying to make it back to the top of the standings. EWE Baskets will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked 46ers in Giessen.
