Date: November 13, 2021
Everything went according to plan when third ranked Efes (6-2) outplayed on the road 9th ranked Buyukcekmece (3-4) 96-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Buyukcekmece 39-25 including a 26-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Buyukcekmece's players. The winners were led by Serbian center Filip Petrusev (211-0, college: Gonzaga, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and international point guard Ahmet Tuncer (193-93) supported him with 14 points and 8 assists. Four Efes players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by center Deniz Kilicli (206-90, college: WVU) did not help to save the game for Buyukcekmece. American guard Phil Greene IV (188-92, college: St.John's) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Efes have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Pinar Karsiyaka. Loser Buyukcekmece keeps the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Afyon. Efes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Dacka.
