Regular Season Round 9: Wolfenbuettel - Bergedorf 87-94

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Bergedorf (3-6) defeated on the road 12th ranked Wolfenbuettel (2-6) 94-87 on Saturday. Bergedorf forced 20 Wolfenbuettel turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Aleksandar Postic (195-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Croatian Matej Jelovcic (185-98) chipped in 25 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. Four Bergedorf players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (187-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) with 26 points and 5 rebounds and Elias Gueldenhaupt (191-95) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Wolfenbuettel's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bergedorf moved-up to tenth place in North, which they share with Rendsburg. Wolfenbuettel lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Bergedorf will meet at home higher ranked Stade (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wolfenbuettel will play against Vechta-2 (#4) and hope to secure a win.
