Regular Season Round 9: Loewen - Wulfen 70-82

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked BSV Wulfen (4-5) beat on the road higher ranked Hertener Loewen (5-4) 82-70 on Saturday. BSV Wulfen made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Bulgarian swingman Lyuben Paskov (196-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Wilhelm Koehler (206-88) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four BSV Wulfen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Adam Pickett (185-94, college: Winthrop) with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Lasse Bungart (190-1) scored 4 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BSV Wulfen moved-up to eighth place in West, which they share with 3 other teams. Hertener Loewen lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Recklinghausen and Hagen-Haspe. BSV Wulfen will meet at home higher ranked Recklinghausen (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hertener Loewen will play against Leverkusen 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
