Regular Season Round 7: Balikesir - Gemlik 93-76

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Balikesir (4-3) won against at home higher ranked Gemlik (4-3) 93-76 on Saturday. They outrebounded Gemlik 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Balikesir looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Carlton Bragg Jr (208-95, college: N.Mexico) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side. American guard Darnell Edge (188-97, college: FDU) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Berkay Civgin (-1) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Gemlik in the defeat. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Balikesir moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Gemlik. Balikesir will meet TED Ankara (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gemlik will play against the league's second-placed Konyaspor (#2) and hope to secure a win.
