Regular Season Round 8: Tofas - Gaziantep 70-89

Round 8 most important game was a victory of Gaziantep over 7th ranked Tofas 89-70 on Sunday night. Gaziantep made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Gaziantep had a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. French center Alpha Kaba (208-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American point guard QJ Peterson (183-94, college: VMI) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Gaziantep players scored in double figures. Gaziantep's coach Tutku Acik used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Croatian forward Tomislav Zubcic (211-90) replied with 24 points and 6 rebounds and international point guard Berk Ugurlu (192-96) added 7 points and 7 assists in the effort for Tofas. Gaziantep (5-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Galatasaray and Besiktas. Tofas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Gaziantep is looking forward to face Turk Telekom (#11) in Ankara in the next round where they are favorite. Tofas will play on the road against Yalova and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
