Regular Season Round 9: Giessen - Ulm BBU 01 71-77

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Ulm BBU 01 (2-6) defeated on the road higher ranked Giessen Pointers (4-4) 77-71 on Sunday. Ulm BBU 01 forced 20 Giessen Pointers turnovers. American Jacob Ensminger (203-4) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Mamadou Diallo (190-3) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Ulm BBU 01 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Benjamin Lischka (204-89) with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ulm BBU 01 moved-up to twelfth place in South West, which they share with Bensheim. Giessen Pointers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Limburg and Fellbach. Ulm BBU 01 will meet at home higher ranked Reutlingen (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giessen Pointers will play against Saarlouis where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
