Regular Season Round 6: SKM I - VKM 81-78 2OT

Undefeated VKM (5-1) recorded its first loss in Vilniaus. Visitors were edged by top-ranked SKM I (5-0) in double-overtime 81-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of VKM. It was a key game for the second position in the league. VKM was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 17-10 third quarter run of SKM I. They tied the game at the end of regular time. Then they were better in double-overtime eventually winning that period 8-9. SKM I forced 24 VKM turnovers. Forward Naglis Sadreika (196-4) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Paulius Velutis (188-4) supported him with 17 points and 4 steals. Four SKM I players scored in double figures. SKM I's coach Algirdas Milonas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by forward Danielius Kasparas (198-4) did not help to save the game for VKM. Point guard Gedas Jucius (173-4) added 14 points. SKM I have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with VKKM. VKM at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. SKM I will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. VKM will play at home against ASRC (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
