Regular Season Round 8: Galatasaray - Yalova 100-73

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Yalova (2-6) was outleveled by seventh ranked Galatasaray (5-3) in Istanbul 100-73 on Sunday. Galatasaray shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The winners were led by Trinidad and Tobago-American swingman Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) who scored that evening 24 points and American-Bulgarian point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: MSU) supported him with 13 points and 11 assists. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Ekrem Memnun felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by the former international Ilkan Karaman (205-90, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Yalova. American swingman CJ Williams (196-90, college: NC State) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Galatasaray moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas and Gaziantep. Yalova lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Merkezefendi. Galatasaray will meet Merkezefendi (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yalova will play against Tofas and hope to secure a win.
