Regular Season Round 5: Merkezefendi - Tesvikiye 68-101

There was a minor upset in Denizl where 8th ranked Merkezefendi (1-4) was rolled over by tenth ranked Tesvikiye (1-4) 101-68 on Sunday. Tesvikiye dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Merkezefendi's 18. Tesvikiye forced 30 Merkezefendi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Utku Pelit (-3) stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Kaan Onkardes (-3) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Atahan Altiok (198-4) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Ege Ogunc (-5) scored 4 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tesvikiye left bottom position moving up to seventh place in League. Tesvikiye will meet at home league's second-placed Besiktas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Merkezefendi will play against Pinar Karsiyaka (#4) and hope to win that game.
