Regular Season Round 7: Herlev - Aabyhoj 118-73

Bottom-ranked Herlev managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time defending champion outleveled fourth-ranked Aabyhoj 118-73. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 45-point difference suggests that Herlev is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Herlev led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Aabyhoj's 44 and made 30-of-38 charity shots (78.9 percent) during the game, while Aabyhoj only scored fourteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Aabyhoj 59-32 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Herlev players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Aabyhoj's players. Aabyhoj was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Emilie Larsen (177-1) who led the winners and scored 30 points and 6 assists. Forward Bianca Braikia (179-3) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Five Herlev players scored in double figures. Julie Hoier (183-95, college: Manhattan) came up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Caroline Wich (185-96, college: Portland St.) added 22 points respectively for Aabyhoj in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (2-4) moved-up to fourth place. Aabyhoj lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Herlev will play against higher ranked SISU (#3) in Copenhagen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aabyhoj will have a break next round.
