No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Vechta-2 (7-3) smashed at home 13th ranked Wolfenbuettel (2-7) 108-82 on Saturday. Vechta-2 forced 19 Wolfenbuettel turnovers and outrebounded them 51-37 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vechta-2 made 11 blocks. American forward Marshawn Blackmon (196-97, college: Newman) had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kilian Brockhoff (205-4) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (187-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and Elias Gueldenhaupt (191-95) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vechta-2 have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Stade. Wolfenbuettel lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Vechta-2 will meet Bergedorf (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wolfenbuettel will play against Neustadt TSV and hope to secure a win.
