Regular Season Round 8: TED Ankara - Balikesir 91-78

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked TED Ankara (3-5) beat at home higher ranked Balikesir (4-4) 91-78 on Saturday. They outrebounded Balikesir 44-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Jamaican forward Joel James (208-94, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-94, college: Augusta) chipped in 23 points. Sercan Ergin (197-83) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five TED Ankara and four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Balikesir's coach Ali Uruk rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TED Ankara moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Final Spor and Antalya. Loser Balikesir keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Gemlik. TED Ankara will meet league's second-placed Konyaspor on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Balikesir will play against OGM Orman (#5) and hope to secure a win.
