Regular Season Round 6: TAC NEF - Yalovaspor 87-89

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked TAC NEF (2-4) was edged by ninth ranked Yalovaspor (2-4) in Tarsus 89-87 on Sunday. Yalovaspor forced 20 TAC NEF turnovers. Strangely TAC NEF outrebounded Yalovaspor 56-39 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Ege Yuksel (-4) notched 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Mert Yilmam (-3) supported him with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Five Yalovaspor players scored in double figures. Yalovaspor's coach Bora Akbulut used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 24 points and 20 rebounds by forward Emirali Gokturk (203-3) did not help to save the game for TAC NEF. Anil Karaca (-3) added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists. Newly promoted Yalovaspor maintains ninth position in League with 2-4 record. Yalovaspor will meet higher ranked Bursaspor (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TAC NEF will play against the league's leader Anadolu Efes where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
