Regular Season Round 7: Tornado KM - Zalgiris I 81-80

Bottom-ranked Zalgiris I (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-80 loss to fifth ranked Tornado KM (5-2) in Kaunas on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 1 point. Tornado KM forced 21 Zalgiris I turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Sarunas Morkevicius (181-4) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Marius Mazeika (188-5) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side point guard Aidas Trumpickas (184-4) responded with 21 points and 7 assists and center Zygimantas Sabaliauskas (201-4) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tornado KM. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with VKM. Zalgiris I lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Tornado KM will meet bottom-ranked KKM I (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris I will play against Saule and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
