Regular Season Round 7: Saule - Panevezio 98-86

There was a minor upset in Siauliai where 7th ranked Panevezio (2-5) was defeated by ninth ranked Saule (2-5) 98-86 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 29-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Saule outrebounded Panevezio 45-30 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Saule looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Matas Janulis (-4) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Eivilas Znutas (-4) helped adding 25 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Nikas Stuknys (-5) responded with 29 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and Arnas Strikulys (-5) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Saule moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Panevezio and SKM II. Panevezio lost their fourth game in a row. Saule will meet Zalgiris I (#11) in the next round. Panevezio will play against VKM (#4) and hope to secure a win.
