Regular Season Round 11: Loewen - Recklinghausen 70-80

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Recklinghausen (7-4) won against on the road 7th ranked Hertener Loewen (5-6) 80-70 on Saturday. They outrebounded Hertener Loewen 44-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Lennard Kaprolat (187-2) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. American swingman Kendall Stafford (193-97, college: N.Alabama) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. American guard Adam Pickett (185-94, college: Winthrop) responded with 26 points and 8 assists and Italian-Argentinian point guard Juan Manuel Barga (189-94) scored 4 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Recklinghausen. They moved-up to second place in West, which they share with 3 other teams. Hertener Loewen lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Wulfen and Hamm. Recklinghausen will meet at home Ibbenbueren (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hertener Loewen will play against Grevenbroich (#14) and hope to secure a win.
