Regular Season Round 11: Giessen - Reutlingen 101-69

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Reutlingen (4-4) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Giessen Pointers (5-4) 101-69 on Sunday. Giessen Pointers forced 20 Reutlingen turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Giessen Pointers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Christoph Kenntemich (174-97) helped adding 27 points. Four Giessen Pointers players scored in double figures. Giessen Pointers' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovakian point guard Richard Sturcel (183-1) responded with 22 points and 8 assists and French center Andy Rico (198-91) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Giessen Pointers moved-up to fifth place in South West. Newly promoted Reutlingen dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Ludwigsburg. Giessen Pointers will meet Mannheim (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Reutlingen will play against Kaiserslautern (#11) and hope to secure a win.
