There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked SG Braunschweig (3-8) defeated at home second-ranked Aschersleben (8-3) 74-60 on Sunday. They outrebounded Aschersleben 53-27 including a 41-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for swingman Brandon Tischler (198-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Nicholas Tischler (198-0) helped adding 20 points and 14 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-92, college: SF State, agency: Interperformances) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and Latvian center Aivars Stikuts (204-96) scored 15 points. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for SG Braunschweig. They moved-up to twelfth place in South West. Loser Aschersleben keeps the second position with three games lost. SG Braunschweig will meet higher ranked Rendsburg (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aschersleben will play against Wolfenbuettel (#14) and hope to secure a win.
