Regular Season Round 8: Zalgiris II - SKM I 96-79

An interesting game for Zalgiris II (7-1) which hosted in Kaunas one of their biggest challengers SKM I (5-2). Second ranked Zalgiris II had an easy win 96-79. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris II. SKM I was better in second period 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris II dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to SKM I's 34. Zalgiris II forced 19 SKM I turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kajus Kublickas (184-4) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and point guard Matas Kolesnikovas (182-4) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Forward Naglis Sadreika (196-4) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Aurimas Mascinskas (199-4) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four SKM I players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader VKKM. SKM I at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Zalgiris II will play against VKM (#5) in Vilniaus in the next round. SKM I will play on the road against RasKKSC in Klaipeda and hopes to get back on the winning track.
