Regular Season Round 9: Chaika - Rivne 88-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Chaika's (1-11) home loss to sixth ranked Rivne (4-10) 88-94 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Viktoria Shmatova (171-87, agency: BIG) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Khrystyna Kulesha (185-4) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-97, college: Oakland) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Alona Samokhvalova (180-97) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivne maintains sixth place with 4-10 record. Chaika lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Rivne will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chaika will play against Frankivsk (#5) in Ivano-Frankivsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
