There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Bayreuth (4-4) edged on the road higher ranked Brose Bamberg (5-5) 87-84 on Saturday. Bayreuth made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Brose Bamberg turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Terry Allen (203-93, college: Richmond) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-96) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-95, college: Boise St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: UNCG) added 21 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brose Bamberg's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bayreuth have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place. Brose Bamberg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Bayreuth will meet at home Skyliners (#14) in the next round. Brose Bamberg will play against EWE Baskets (#18) in Oldenburg and hope to secure a win.
