Regular Season Round 10: Botas GA - Samsun 83-47

Bottom-ranked Samsun (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-47 loss to second ranked Botas GA (9-1) in Ankara on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Botas GA dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Samsun's 24. Botas GA forced 22 Samsun turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Botas GA made 7 blocks. Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-85) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Burcu Buyukayan (-2) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Yilmaz Nurselin responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Fatma Azakli (-0) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Botas GA maintains second position with 9-1 record behind leader Emlak. Loser Samsun still closes the standings with ten games lost. Botas GA will meet at home league's leader Emlak in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Samsun will play against Yalova Vip (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
