Regular Season Round 6: Linz Wels - Basket Flames 73-67

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Linz Wels (4-1) beat at home 5th ranked Flames (2-4) 73-67. It looked good early as Flames took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Linz Wels had a 17-12 second period charge getting the lead and Flames were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-73. Forward Janell Douvier (185-99, college: SIU) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Marlies Kolin (179-92) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Linz Wels' coach Gregor Leitner allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Luxembourg forward Loulou Kenens (173-97) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Montenegrin center Agatija Vukicevic (194-3) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Linz Wels have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Flames lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Timberwolves. Linz Wels will play against DBBC Graz (#5) on the road in the next round. Flames will play against UBI Graz and hope to get back on the winning track.
