Regular Season Round 7: Cankaya - Izmit 75-93

There was no surprise in Ankara where 10th ranked Cankaya (2-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Izmit (4-3) 93-75 on Saturday. Izmit made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American center Kristina Higgins (196-94, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side American swingman Alexis Prince (188-94, college: Baylor) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tan White (170-82, college: MSU) scored 16 points. Izmit moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hatay. Loser Cankaya keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Izmit will meet at home higher ranked Galatasaray (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cankaya's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ankara to the arena Ormanspor.
