Very important is a road loss of third ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-4) against seventeenth ranked Skyliners (3-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Crailsheim Merlins were defeated by Skyliners in a tough game in Frankfurt 73-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. Skyliners made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 48-27 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Will Cherry (185-91, college: Montana) nailed 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Lorenz Brenneke (206-0) accounted for 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Skyliners players scored in double figures. Skyliners' coach Diego Ocampo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard TJ Shorts (175-97, college: UC Davis) came up with 25 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and the other American import guard Terrell Harris (191-93, college: Georgia Coll., agency: Players Group) added 11 points respectively for Crailsheim Merlins in the defeat. Skyliners moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Ulm and Chemnitz. Skyliners will play against higher ranked Bayreuth (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
