Everything went according to plan in Trier where seventh ranked Gladiators (7-5) won against 16th ranked Eagles (2-9) 86-68 on Sunday. Gladiators dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 32. They outrebounded Eagles 44-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gladiators looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Eagles' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Parker Van Dyke (190-94, college: Utah) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists and Serbian center Radoslav Pekovic (215-94) who added 9 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Yasin Kolo (208-92, college: Bellarmine) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American Christopher Hooper (198-91, college: SFC) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Eagles' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gladiators moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Paderborn and Kirchheim. Eagles lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the sixteenth position with nine games lost. Gladiators will meet league's second-placed Seawolves in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eagles will play against the league's leader Science City Jena (#1) and hope to secure a win.
