Rather expected game in Funchal where 6th ranked CAB Madeira (5-5) was defeated by third ranked Vagos (8-2) 68-52 on Sunday. Vagos dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to CAB Madeira's 22. Vagos forced 27 CAB Madeira turnovers. American Devon Brookshire (190-94, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: DC Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Martha Burse (168-96, college: Indianapolis, agency: Whitecox Lyons SM) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian swingman Madison Torresin (183-96, college: W.Chester) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Bria Dial (183, college: Chattanooga) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vagos moved-up to second place. Loser CAB Madeira dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Vagos will meet bottom-ranked Guifoes (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CAB Madeira will play against CDEFF (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
