Very predictable result when fourth ranked Voluntari (9-1) won against on the road 9th ranked Ploiesti CSM (4-7) 89-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Voluntari. Ploiesti CSM managed to win second period 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American Toddrick Gotcher (192-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Alti Sport) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Voluntari players scored in double figures. American guard Deion Hammond (193, college: Monmouth) came up with 23 points and the other American import point guard Johnathan Jordan (178-92, college: TAMUCC, agency: BIG) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Ploiesti CSM in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Voluntari. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Oradea. Ploiesti CSM lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Voluntari will meet at home Constanta (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ploiesti CSM will play against Dinamo B. in Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
