Regular Season Round 8: Alytaus - LSU-Kaunas 74-75

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Alytaus (5-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked LSU-Kaunas (5-1) 75-74. It was a key game for the second position in Lyga. LSU-Kaunas forced 27 Alytaus turnovers. Strangely Alytaus outrebounded LSU-Kaunas 45-32 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ieva Stankeviciute (176-89) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds and Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Guard Rita Zilinskaite (175-92) responded with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Justina Leskauskaite (178-2) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. LSU-Kaunas moved-up to second place in Lyga. LSU-Kaunas are looking forward to face Vilniaus univ. (#4) at home in the next round. Alytaus will play against Patriotes and is hoping to win this game.
