Regular Season Round 13: Wolfenbuettel - Rendsburg 100-91

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Wolfenbuettel (3-9) beat at home higher ranked Rendsburg (6-7) 100-91 on Saturday. Wolfenbuettel shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (187-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) stepped up and scored 31 points and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Kai Globig (181-98) chipped in 18 points. Four Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Henning Rixen (196-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and American forward Devaughn Mallory (201-97, college: Jefferson) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wolfenbuettel moved-up to twelfth place in North. Loser Rendsburg dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Wusterhausen. Wolfenbuettel will meet at home higher ranked WSG Koenigs (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rendsburg will play against Bergedorf in Hamburg and hope to secure a win.
