Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Galatasaray (#6). Galatasaray was defeated at home 76-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Galatasaray was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Czech center Jan Vesely (213-90, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and international Melih Mahmutoglu (191-90) supported him with 22 points. Five Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by Trinidad and Tobago-American swingman Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) did not help to save the game for Galatasaray. American-Bulgarian point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: MSU) added 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce (11-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Tofas.
