Regular Season Round 11: Cesme - Uludag 67-73

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Uludag (5-6) won against 8th ranked Cesme (5-6) in Izmir 73-67 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Naturalized Swedish guard Meryem Gultekin (166-90) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side. Four Uludag players scored in double figures. American forward Angela Tompkins (188-91, college: Wichita St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) added 20 points and 6 assists respectively for Cesme in the defeat. Uludag moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Cesme and Tarsus. Uludag will meet at home bottom-ranked Samsun (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cesme will play against Antalya (#14) and hope to secure a win.
