Regular Season Round 11: Interkhim - Kyiv Basket 54-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Interkhim's (8-8) home loss to third ranked Kyiv Basket (13-3) in Odessa 54-77 on Sunday. The game without a history. Kyiv Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Interkhim to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Kyiv Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Interkhim's 30. They outrebounded Interkhim 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American center Ciera Johnson (190-97, college: Texas A&M) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international center Taisia Udodenko (190-89) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket's coach Volodimir Kholopov felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Svitlana Kolibabchuk (189-87) came up with 7 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Olesia Malashenko (191-91) added 14 points respectively for Interkhim in the defeat. Kyiv Basket moved-up to second place. Loser Interkhim keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Kyiv Basket will meet at home Chaika (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Interkhim will have a break next round.
