There was a minor upset in Wuerzburg where higher ranked s Oliver Baskets (3-7) were edged by seventeenth ranked Braunschweig (3-7) 87-86 on Sunday. Braunschweig forced 20 s Oliver Baskets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Czech center Martin Peterka (205-95) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Tookie Brown (180-95, college: Georgia South) chipped in 18 points during the contest. At the losing side Latvian guard Aigars Skele (193-92) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands forward Desi Rodriguez (198-96, college: Seton Hall) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four s Oliver Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Braunschweig moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated s Oliver Baskets. s Oliver Baskets lost fourth consecutive game. Braunschweig will meet at home higher ranked Bayreuth (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. s Oliver Baskets will play against Hamburg Towers and hope to secure a win.
