Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked WSG Koenigs (6-7) won against on the road 12th ranked SG Braunschweig (3-10) 96-89 on Sunday. WSG Koenigs made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) stepped up and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and center Oliver Mackeldanz (211-90) chipped in 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side point guard Simon Roosch (198-1) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and Sananda Fru (208-3) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four SG Braunschweig players scored in double figures. SG Braunschweig's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. WSG Koenigs moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Rendsburg. Newly promoted SG Braunschweig dropped to the thirteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bergedorf. WSG Koenigs will meet Wolfenbuettel (#12) on the road in the next round. SG Braunschweig will play against Cuxhaven and hope to secure a win.
