Regular Season Round 11: Satu Mare - Rapid 106-55

Very expected game when 12th ranked Rapid Bucuresti (2-8) was smashed on the road by third ranked Satu Mare (9-1) 106-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Satu Mare led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid Bucuresti's 36. Satu Mare forced 21 Rapid Bucuresti turnovers and outrebounded them 33-19. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Rapid Bucuresti's players. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) who led the winners and scored 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). Her fellow American import guard Sierra Moore (180-94, college: Penn St.) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Satu Mare players scored in double figures. The former international guard Florina Stanici-Diaconu (170-82) came up with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international Sonia-Alexandra Cazacu (183-1) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Rapid Bucuresti in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satu Mare have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sf.Gheorghe. Rapid Bucuresti lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Brasov. Satu Mare will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rapid Bucuresti will play against Constanta (#8) and hope to secure a win.
